I had an opportunity to watch a program on Peter and Paul last evening on PBS. Much of the material was familiar to me, but it's always nice to be able to review, re-examine, and rethink some of the things we know, or believe that we know.

I am constantly being blown away by some of the new examples to which I am being exposed. Here's another one I felt was worth sharing.

We receive a packet of papers each week as we enter church services. The cover is multi-colored, gives a summary about what the latest series of sermons is intended to cover, and lists some of the web references for some of the church's resources and programs. An offering envelope is also included, along with a Power Point outline to help...

I'm wondering how a person can have a Christ-like relationship with parents who are still in one of the splinter groups. I can enjoy mine in very brief bursts, or sound bytes, but can't imagine being able to take the relationship to the next level without God intervening in some way.

I've carefully considered the Bible teachings on this, too. Obviously, we are to honor our physical parents, as they typify and point the way to relationships with our heavenly Father....

Major paradigm shift. I no longer believe in them. At least, I don't believe that they have the impact which we were lead to believe that they had in the past. To me, "correcting" flaws in the Bible is yet another example of how we were trained not to trust the Holy Spirit. And, if you don't trust the HS, you certainly cannot be guided by it!

All of us who are believers here most certainly believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. But, at what point...

I guess I am making more of a sharing my own thoughts here from things I have thought of about this topic and it is only my opinion but cannot help but wonder what other posters think of regarding the two witnesses mentioned in Revelations.

Revelations 11.3 says..And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and three score days, clothed in sackcloth.

I just visited Mark Tabladillo's website, and discovered that his ministry is affiliated with the Willow Creek Association. I had no idea! Why is this a "wow!" moment? As a mind-blowing coincidence, CCV, the church which I've been attending, is also affiliated with Willow Creek! I'm tempted to make the observation that the Lord works in mysterious ways!

Does anyone have any information about, or experience with this author? Was he a bonified, valid scholar, or more like Dugger and Dodd?

Recently, it occurred to me that, since you really can't tell from the Bible (arguments and scriptures supporting either side are equally strong) whether the Sabbath is to be kept today, one piece of information that might prove useful would be the writings of secular historians, neutral scholars who had no bias either way. I don't trust...

Yesterday I had the chance to meet a wonderful lady who came into our store and one of my co-workers and this lady have been friends for over 20 years and she asked the lady to share her "bread crumbs" story with several of us.

Here is Young's literal translation. Notice the wording:

Numbers 29: ⁷`And on the tenth of this seventh month a holy convocation ye have, and ye have humbled your souls; ye do no work;

-Notice there is nothing there about fasting or even afflicting. And it just says "do no work," not "do no work at all." It says...
